Bournemouth Airport hotel planned
08.06.11
Plans to build a hotel at Bournemouth Airport have been revealed following the multi-million pound development of both terminals and other facilities. The airport has undergone a major transformation over the last two years, with the departure and arrivals terminal rebuilt, as well as other facilities, including resurfacing the complete length of the runway, doubling the size of the apron and installing new navigation and lighting aids.
Now, the development team at Manchester Airports Group, who own the airport, hope to developing hotel facilities at the airport over the next 12 months. A spokesman said the need for the first ‘on-site’ airport hotel has been brought on by the major transformation the airport has undergone.
The spokesman said: ‘At this stage we are investigating whether such a development is viable and to understand the requirement in terms of the number of bedrooms and level of service required in order to both meet market demand and to further enhance the airport facilities. Any potential hotel development would be within the boundaries of the existing airport site.’
The spokesperson said MAG would be looking at on-site facilities with ‘no plans to develop other hotels elsewhere in the town.’Add to: del.icio.us | Digg it | Newsvine | NowPublic | Reddit
