Union takes Liverpool Airport baggage handler dispute to courts
31.01.12
The GMB union is heading to the courts in its bitter redundancy strike at Liverpool Airport, the Daily Post reports, as baggage handling firm Servisair presses ahead with its decision to axe between 28 - 35 jobs.
The union has to end their industrial action at the airport as they have reached the end of the legally-enforced 12-week period. It will now take its flight with the company to the courts to obtain a ‘protective award'. If a tribunal rules in the GMB’s favour, Servisair would have to pay between 30-90 days pay for each of the employees at the risk of redundancy.
