New aircraft museum at Coventry Airport
31.05.10
The aviation museum at Coventry Airport gets off the ground again this weekend. The new Airbase centre will be home to more than 30 iconic British aircraft and classic planes from around the globe. Visitors will be able to look around the vintage aircraft, see them fly and be transported back to the 1950s in a simulation of a transatlantic flight to New York.
Trevor Bailey, the managing director of Air Atlantique, which is running the new Airbase centre, said: ‘It’s a significant weekend for us and the whole area. It’s going to be a major attraction and we are looking to make it a real experience. It goes some way to putting Coventry Airport back on the map. This weekend is only the start.’
The Airbase will be open from 10:00 until 18:00 every day except Monday. Entrance is £8 for adults and £4 for children.
