Coventry Airport lodges expansion appeal
25.07.07
Coventry Airport has lodged an appeal against a government decision to block their expansion plans.
Last month the public inquiry held into Coventry Airport's plans for a new terminal to allow the airport to cope with 2 million passengers a year ruled that there would be an adverse impact on noise in the area and rejected the plans. However, the airport's owners now claim that the decision was legally flawed and that they are hoping to resolve concerns about noise.
Airport managing director Chris Orphanou said: 'Our legal team has advised us that the decision is seriously flawed in law. We will be seeking a new inquiry. Hundreds of our customers, together with MPs, elected councillors, local businesses organisations and companies wanting to invest in Coventry, have urged us to make the appeal.'
