Coventry Airport outsource security
24.05.08
Security at Coventry Airport has been outsourced as part of a multi-million pound contract. The airport, which is used by nearly 700,000 passengers a year, has signed a £30 million contract with City Aviation Services (CAS) to outsource key personnel, including security, baggage, airport car park, cleaning and driving staff.
It is believed to be the first UK airport to outsource its entire security department, a move backed by the Department for Transport. No staff have been made redundant as a result of the move.
CAS has worked with Coventry Airport for more than 11 years. In 1997, the company was contracted to provide cargo and car park staff to the airport and since 2004 is has supplied back-up security personnel to cover staff holidays and sickness.
