Passenger numbers up 56 percent at Coventry Airport

Thomsonfly marketing director Maria Heckel has welcomed news that passenger numbers at Coventry Airport are soaring. The number of passengers using the airport was up by more than half last year, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) announced this week.
Passenger numbers at Coventry airport increased by 56 percent in 2005, from 462,368 to 719,473 - one of the biggest increases in the UK. The airport was recently acquired by venture capitalists Cafco (Coventry) Ltd, and offers low-cost flights to destinations including Paris, Salzburg, Faro, Malaga and Alicante.
Maria Heckel predicts even bigger increases. She said: 'Passengers arriving into Coventry can be off the aircraft, collecting their baggage and on their way home far quicker than it would be possible from the bigger, more traditional airports and we see this as the main reason for the success of Thomsonfly in Coventry. We look forward to even more low-fares flights this summer and next winter.'
To that end Thomsonfly has announced new low-cost flights for next winter to Barcelona, Valencia and Jersey. Fares start at just £16.99 to Jersey from Coventry and £19.99 to Barcelona and Valencia. Thomsonfly will fly to Barcelona seven times a week, to Valencia three times a week and to Jersey five times a week.
