Coventry Airport could be enterprise zone site
20.04.11
A large swathe of land around Coventry Airport has been identified as a possible site for a Government ‘enterprise zone’ that could create 10,000 new jobs, the Coventry Telegraph reports. The newspaper says that the site is among five sites being considered for a bid to the Government to create an enterprise zone to boost Coventry’s regeneration plans.
Coventry City Council and business leaders are keen to win Government backing for an enterprise zone, which would attract firms by offering tax breaks and a relaxation of planning rules. The area missed out last month when chancellor George Osborne announced the first 10 such ‘zones’. An announcement of 11 more is expected in July.
