10.10.06
Wizz Air, the largest low cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe, has announced it is to fly from Coventry Airport to Poland. The airline will fly passengers to Katowice in Poland three times a week using a 180-seater Airbus A320 aircraft.
John Stephenson from Wizz Air said he hopes the new route will attract tourists and Polish people living in this country. Katowice is a gateway to the Silesian Mountains, popular for skiing and hiking, and the city break destination of Krakow is only an hour away.
Chief Executive at Coventry Airport, Alan Robinson said: 'We are absolutely delighted that Wizz Air has chosen Coventry Airport as its Midlands base. As the only real low-cost airport in the UK, we can offer the quality service and fast turn-around times that are key to a low-fares airline.'
