Coventry Airport terminal appeal
08.11.08
Coventry Airport is continuing its fight for a new terminal by demanding that last month's ruling be overturned, the Courier reports. Its lawyers left it until Monday - the last possible of 28 days - to request an appeal against the High Court judgement, which supported a decision made last year by the government to refuse planning permission.
Their action means that a long-held ambition to handle two million passengers per year at the Baginton site could yet become a reality. But even if judges allow an appeal, a hearing would not be held until next year.
The airport will be without a passenger airline next week for the first time in four years when Thomsonfly ends its operations at the site, while the most up-to-date figures show a 38 percent fall in passenger numbers in the past year. Yet despite all this, the airport’s managers remain optimistic.
