Coventry Airport retains one-bag limit
07.01.08
Despite over twenty UK airports relaxing the one hand baggage rule from today - including Birmingham Airport - Coventry Airport has yet to receive permission to make the change and will stick to its one-bag rule.
The one bag rule was introduced in the wake of the liquid bomb plot in August 2006. It is being relaxed today at a number of UK airports including Heathrow, Birmingham and Manchester, meaning that passengers will be allowed to take more than one bag of luggage on board flights, subject to individual airline rules.
However, the restriction will remain at over 40 large or regional airports including Gatwick, Luton and Liverpool as they are not yet ready to cope with the extra security checks relaxing the rule would require.
The restriction is expected to be relaxed at all UK airports from May. The list of current approved airports can be found on http://www.DfT.gov.uk/transportforyou/airtravel/airportsecurity/cabinbaggage.
