Cocaine found in prunes cargo at Coventry Airport

Customs officers discovered cocaine estimated to have a street value of £30,000 hidden inside more than 140 prune at Coventry Airport, the largest parcel depot in England. A spokesman said the find showed the 'ever inventive' methods used to smuggle drugs.
Officers searching each individual fruit of the cargo and found the cocaine wrapped in clear plastic in each. The 143 dried plums contained 4.4g of the class A drug each, totalling well over half a kilo.
The consignment had arrived from Guyana and was destined for Spain. No-one has been arrested but investigations are continuing, a spokesman said.
