Redundancies at Coventry Airport
04.12.08
Coventry Airport has made almost 100 people redundant. Baggage handlers and security staff who were working at the airport have been laid off after cheap flights ended at the airport last month.
But most of the workers - who were expecting a month’s pay and a redundancy payment - have received nothing after Coventry Airport Handling, which provided the baggage handlers, went into administration last Friday. This has left 62 workers without the money they were expecting.
A second firm called Workforce Direct, based in Courtland Avenue, in Coundon, which provided security officers to the airport, has made about 30 employees redundant.
