Cardiff Airport cigarette smugglers jailed

Two Polish men have been jailed for trying to smuggle 60,000 cigarettes into the country via Cardiff Airport.
Customs officers stopped Adam Pasiak, 43, and Ireneusz Szydlowski, 48, at the airport on Monday after they flew in on a flight from Prague. The men had travelled to the Prague from Poland.
Customs officers searching their baggage when they arrived at Cardiff Airport, and found that they were carrying 30,000 cigarettes each. Pasiak and Szydlowski admitted to bringing in the cigarettes and smuggling a further 41,200 through Bristol Airport on April 13.
The two men were charged on two counts of fraudulently evading excise duty amounting to £11,743.73. Both pleaded guilty at Barry Magistrates' Court. Pasiak was sentenced to 120 days' imprisonment and Szydlowski 90 days.
