Cardiff Airport library scheme takes off
27.08.07
Holidaymakes jetting off from Cardiff Airport got the chance to pick up a good read at the check-in desk - books from a local library. The scheme is part of a campaign to get more people to use their local library.
Sandra Cooper and Claire Young, from Rhoose's public library, took a collection of books to the airport to remind passengers that they don't need to shell out to take a good read on holiday. They said: 'Everyone wants a couple of good books to relax with on the beach when you're on holiday, but it can be expensive. We wanted to remind people that they don't have to part with their cash in order to get their hands on a good book.'
The mobile library was a hit with travellers, with one passenger saying: ''I'd never thought about joining the library but when I saw all the great books they had, like Katie Price's new book which I've borrowed from them for my holiday, I decided to sign up. My mum and brother have also borrowed some travel guides for our holiday to Crete.'
The books borrowed at the airport can be returned at passengers local library.
