Cardiff Airport has appointed Steve Hodgetts, 50, to a newly created role of business development and commercial director. Mr Hodgetts, who has worked at the airport since 1998, also joins its board.
The new role has been created to combine responsibilities from the business development and commercial functions. Mr Hodgetts joined the airport as commercial manager and was subsequently appointed head of commercial and strategic development. He also delivered the airport’s response to the Government’s White Paper on the Future of Aviation in 2006.
Prior to joining the airport. Mr Hodgetts spent 15 years at Birmingham Airport working in commercial, planning and development. An airport spokesman said that he has a proven track record in property, non-aviation revenue generation, future planning and research management.
He said: ‘I am looking forward to tackling the challenges of my new role head on and to the opportunities the new department brings by working to improve the customer experience from Cardiff. We have a strong, dedicated team in place and we are all excited about starting a number of new projects and initiatives.’
