Cardiff Airport parking online price falls
21.06.11
Cardiff Airport has slashed the price of its pre-booked parking after resolving a dispute with its online partner, the South Wales Echo reports. The newspaper reported in January that travellers who pre-booked their parking online were being charged up to 25% more than the cost of simply driving up to the airport and parking.
At the time holidaymakers paid £81.50 a week to pre-book a space in the on-site car park – one of the highest fees of any airport in the UK. What the NCP operated part of the airport website did not state was that motorists who simply drove up to take a ticket at the gate paid £65.
Cardiff Airport blamed the high cost of pre-booked parking on a dispute with third party marketing agents who sell the spaces on its behalf. However, an online search by the newspaper yesterday showed it now typically costs £44.50 online to park for one week, and a Cardiff Airport spokeswoman confirmed the dispute had been resolved.
The spokeswoman said: ‘Pre-book parking discounts for stays longer than one day in the long-stay car parks will vary depending on the length of stay, with most savings over 20% compared to gate prices and parking spaces available for under £5.50 per day for stays of two weeks or longer.'
'All long and short-stay car parks within walking distance to the terminal building. The airport also offers a free shuttle bus service to and from the terminal from the long-stay car parks.’
