Flybe increase Cardiff – Belfast flights after bmibaby ‘pull out’
21.01.10
Flybe is to launch an additional four flights a week on its Cardiff to Belfast City route to meet the sudden shortfall of seats 'following the unannounced withdrawal of services on the Northern Ireland route by low cost carrier bmibaby effective February 25', the airline has announced.
The airline reports that it has been 'inundated with increased demand' for seats to and from Cardiff and Belfast in recent days as the realisation that, from late February, the bmibaby will no longer fly to Belfast International Airport.
Last March, Flybe also 'stepped in to the rescue' of another ex-bmibaby route from Cardiff after the airline axed its Glasgow flights from the Welsh capital; and last week Flybe added extra frequency to fill the gap left again by bmibaby on the Birmingham to Glasgow route.
Flybe will now operate up to 16 flights a week on its winter service between Cardiff and Belfast City with one way fares from £25.99 including taxes and airport charges.
