Airline launches trilingual website
16.03.08
An airline is claiming a world first with the launch of a tri-lingual website in English, Gaelic and Welsh. The news comes in the same month the Cardiff Airport itself launched and English / Welsh version of its website.
Highland Airways, the airline that operates the North - South Wales air route (Cardiff - Anglesey flights), said translating its website into Welsh and Scottish Gaelic would allow more customers to book flights online using their own language.
Commercial director Basil O'Fee added that the North-South link is on track to double passenger targets. He revealed the service between Anglesey Airport and Cardiff has already carried 11,700 passengers. That is nearly 5,000 more than the airline hoped to carry in the first year.
He said the twice weekday service between Cardiff Airport and Anglesey, which launched last May, has ‘exceeding all expectations’ with flights running at over 80% capacity.
