New drop off and collection parking rules at Cardiff Airport
12.03.08
Cardiff Airport introduced new rules on the drop off and collection of passengers. Drivers are now able to drop off passengers outside the terminal building, making access to the airport more convenient.
However, pick-up of passengers will still take place in the short stay car park. This is to comply with Department for Transport (DfT) regulations forbidding unattended or waiting vehicles outside any airport terminal building in the UK. For drivers collecting passengers, the first 20 minutes in the short stay car park will still be free of charge.
New signs and security measures have been installed to inform passengers of the new systems. Approaching the airport, drivers will be directed into one dedicated lane leading to the short stay car park. A second lane will lead to the 'drop off' area directly in front of the terminal.
Graeme Gamble, Director of Operations at Cardiff International, said: ‘Our aim is to make the airport as passenger friendly as possible, and the new road access is a welcome step forward for the passenger experience.’
