New lifesaver course for Cardiff Airport staff
12.01.11
Staff at Cardiff Airport will be trained in life-saving techniques as part of a 'first responder' scheme. The Welsh Ambulance Service will train volunteers at the airport who can immediately respond to emergencies. They will be trained to administer basic first aid, recognise certain cardiac conditions and use a defibrillator.
A spokesman for the ambulance service said: ‘Cardiff Airport serves two million passengers each year, so you can imagine that there is quite a busy community here every day. We hope to have an active team there to give passengers and workers facing life-threatening illnesses while on site a valuable first response. The faster life support skills get to a patient, the better their outlook is, a prognosis all first responders are ready to support.’
