Cardiff Zurich flights to make Bristol stop
10.11.11
Helvetic's Cardiff - Zurich route will include an additional stop at Bristol Airport from next month. The airline launched the route in March, hoping to exploit the business and leisure passenger market between the two countries. However, after lower than forecast passenger demand on the four days a week (three in winter) flights, the service will now stop off at Bristol from December 5.
Passenger numbers on the 100 seat service have been running at just 30% occupancy. The head of commercial operations and air services development at Cardiff Airport, Spencer Birns, said: ‘By exploiting business users from Bristol they are sharing the risk of the route during the winter months. However, they have told us that there were be no differentiation on tickets between Cardiff and Bristol.’
The stop-off at Bristol will add more than 30 minutes to journey times for those using the service from Cardiff.
