Cardiff Airport to sell baby milk after security
08.09.07
Parents with very young children travelling through Cardiff Airport can now buy baby milk in the terminal's departure lounge, beyond security checkpoints. This will enable them to overcome the problems and inconvenience caused by security rules that limit the volume of liquid allowed to be carried by passengers in their hand luggage.
Passengers leaving from UK airports are allowed to take no more than ten 100ml containers through checkpoints. They must be placed in a transparent, resealable plastic bag. Although they can also carry liquid baby food or sterilised water sufficient for the journey through airport security, the accompanying adult is required to verify it by tasting it at security.
Now Cardiff Airport has started selling 250ml SMA White and Gold baby milk, costing £1 a carton, in ready-to-use containers both before and after going through security. Warming facilities have also been made available.
The airport's customer service manager, Margaret James, said: 'We recognised and appreciated the problem, in light of the new security measures, and have taken steps to ensure that parents are provided with the services they require.'
