Taxi drivers to strike at Cardiff Airport

Some taxi drivers at Cardiff Airport are to strike tomorrow (Sunday, January 9) in protest over rising fares, the Barry & District News reports. 32 drivers from Checker Cars, who provide services to and from the airport, will be on strike for 24 hours.
Peter Coombs, one of the drivers for the firm, told the newspaper: ‘We feel we have been backed into a corner, and have been left with no choice. They are increasing the fares, which we think is inappropriate in the current economy. We are concerned about the public more than anything else.’
