Cardiff Airport drops ‘international’; announces terminal development
02.03.09
The terminal at Cardiff Airport is to be redeveloped in time for summer 2010. Work is to start in October with the redevelopment of the front of the terminal and approach areas. In addition the airport is dropping the 'international' from its name - it was officially known as Cardiff International Airport, but will now just be Cardiff Airport.
The terminal redevelopment will see the arrivals and departures halls linked into one large common area, with new food and retail services and a more contemporary design. It is planned that this stage of redevelopment will be completed in time for next summer, and well in advance of the Ryder Cup, which will be held in Wales in October 2010.
The name ‘Cardiff Airport’ and ‘Maes Awyr Caerdydd’ will also replace Cardiff International Airport from today following a brand review. The name will be accompanied by a new visual identity and logo.
