28 hour delay at Bournemouth Airport
27.07.08
Passengers flying from Bournemouth Airport were fuming after their flight was delayed by 28 hours because of technical faults.
The Thomsonfly flight to Faro in Portugal was supposed to take off at 13:20 last Thursday but passengers were told there was a fault with their plane. At 18:30 they were told the flight was going to be postponed until 14:30 the following day, and those who could not return home were offered a room in a local hotel.
Passengers returned on Friday lunchtime to be told the plane had further technical problems and their rescheduled flight was postponed to 15:30, then 16:05 and then 16:15. It eventually took off just after 17:00 - 28 hours late.
A Thomsonfly spokesman said the flight had been delayed ‘due to a fault with the circuit breaker system on the flight deck, which occurred while the plane was on the ground at Faro after its previous trip’.
He added: ‘Thomsonfly endeavoured to find a solution to this but unfortunately it had the knock-on effect of delaying the service out of Bournemouth. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this delay caused our customers.'
