Palmair boss blames flight decline on airport security

The boss of independent travel agent Bath Travel said time-consuming airport security and the 2010 volcanic ash cloud have put many people off flying. He made the comment after announcing that the Dorset-based company's airline, Palmair, is to cease flying from Bournemouth Airport in April. The airline returned its only plane, a leased jet, at the end of October and chartered passengers onto other airlines.
Joint managing director Stephen Bath said: ‘The public are fed up with more and more hassle, having their nail scissors taken away, their water bottles, more and more frisking and so-on. The ash cloud has also done more damage to aviation than any other occurrence in aviation in Britain.’
