Helicopter crash lands at Bournemouth Airport
02.07.08
A helicopter has crash landed at Bournemouth Airport yesterday. Emergency services were called to the Dorset airport at 16:39 after reports the aircraft, with two people onboard, had come down in long grass short of the runway. Police, fire and ambulance services were on the scene.
The BBC reports that the helicopter came down to the south east of the threshold of runway 26, within the airport perimeter. The pilot called the control tower after hitting the ground to say those on board were well. Unconfirmed reports suggested the aircraft was a Robinson R22, a two-seat helicopter used for training.
