Ryanair face action over two passenger two million cheap flights ad

Ryanair could face court action after a ‘two million’ seat giveaway which they could only prove was available to just two customers, the Mirror reports. Britain's advertising watchdog has ruled that the budget airline's recent £10-a-ticket campaign was misleading, and the budget airline faces a fine if the Office of Fair Trading rules it was deliberate, the newspaper reports.
The latest spat with the Advertising Standards Authority is the ninth time in two years that Ryanair have come under fire for ignoring advertising regulations. The ad boasted: ‘Two million seats from £10 one-way, taxes and charges included. Travel Monday-Sunday’. Yet people trying to book complained the £10 tickets were not available, and one told the Advertising Standards Authority they could not find any on Fridays or Sundays.
Ryanair claimed thousands of passengers had booked £10 tickets, but would not provide any details and produced just two booking forms to show the discount was available on Friday and Sunday flights. In a ruling due next week, the Mirror reports that ASA says: ‘We considered that details of the two booking forms provided were not sufficient evidence... the ad was misleading.’
The ASA recently branded another Ryanair ad offensive, and gave the airline a ‘final warning’ last October over another claim.
