New Stansted bus link
27.03.09
In May Stansted Airport will add a new coach service to it transport network, offering a convenient link to people all over South Essex. Airdirect, a partnership between BAA and Excel Coaches, will offer direct services every two hours, 24 hours a day between the airport and Basildon, Brentwood, Grays and Ongar.
Stansted's public transport development manager, Steve Mills, said: ‘Over 46 percent of our passengers use public transport to get to and from the airport. This is the highest figure for any major UK airport and in the top three in Europe.'
‘This service will be the only direct public transport link between Stansted and this area of Essex. With a 90 minute journey time we are confident that people will find it extremely convenient and an excellent alternative to their car.’
High quality, wheelchair accessible coaches will serve the route. Each is equipped free with Wi-Fi access, air conditioning, DVD screens, fully reclining seats and generous leg room.
The new service begins on May 1, with return adult fares from Brentwood starting at £10, Basildon - Stansted from £23 and Grays - Stansted from £25. For further details visit www.airdirectstansted.com.
