Major roadworks near Stansted Airport from Monday
24.04.08
Essential maintenance works will start on the M11 near Bishop's Stortford next Monday (April 28), the Highways Agency has announced. The works will take place on a 2 mile (3.3km) section between junction 8, the Stansted Airport slip, and a point 350m south of the Stansted Road bridge at Elsenham.
The works will include laying new quiet surface material, replacing the safety barrier and installing a concrete barrier in the central reservation. A 24-hour contraflow will be in place while the work is carried out. The northbound entry slip road onto the M11 at J8 will also be reduced to one lane and a 50mph speed limit will be in place.
Drivers are advised to plan and leave extra time for their journeys while the work is taking place. The scheme is expected to be completed by mid-July, just in time for the school summer holidays.
