Ryanair warn over ‘free car’ email scam
20.05.11
Ryanair has warned people not to fall for an email scam that claims they have won a free car in the airline's scratchcard draw. The email asks the recipient to pay £500 delivery charges for the vehicle, which it claims they won in Ryanair's 'car promo'.
The airline, which has reported the fraudulent email to Consumer Direct, the agency that deals with internet scams, said it was circulated following news that a printing error led to three passengers on a single flight from Italy to Spain winning cars after buying scratchcards for €2 each.
It reminded passengers that the only way to win a car with Ryanair is to buy a winning scratchcard and that they should have their ticket verified by Brandforce before claiming their prize, which is free of any form of delivery charges. To book a stansted airport hotel or stansted airport car park at the lowest price, click on these links to two great stansted airport car parking and stansted airport hotel price comparison pages.
