Horse fears over new Stansted flight stacks
18.04.08
South East Cambridgeshire MP Jim Paice said this week that plans to create an aircraft stacking zone for flights to Stansted Airport over part of south Cambridgeshire and west Suffolk could be 'a catastrophe' to the horse racing and breeding industry in the area.
Mr Paice met with local stud owners as well as Newmarket auctioneers Tattersalls, the Thoroughbred Breeders Association and the National Stud last week to discuss the plans. After the meeting he said: ‘We have fought off changes to VAT to stop the breeding industry leaving the area and it would be a catastrophe if it now left because of aircraft stacking.’
