Ryanair / easyJet punctuality row
15.09.09
Ryanair and easyJet have clashed over their flight punctuality records, after the Irish airline accused its British rival of not publishing statistics because it had ‘lost faith’ in its performance, TTG reports. easyJet hit back, saying that latest statistics showed that 95% of its flights arrived on time at centrally located airports rather than Ryanair’s ‘obscure’ destinations.
Ryanair highlighted that easyJet had not published on-time performance figures since April 27 and claimed it had outperformed its rival every week since 2003. Ryanair spokesman Stephen McNamara said: ‘We publish customer service statistics each month to prove that we are Europe’s leading customer service provider. We challenge easyJet to recommence publishing its on-time performance statistics or admit that it no longer views punctuality as a ‘top priority’ because is has lost faith in its operation’.
A spokesman said easyJet’s punctuality statistics had not appeared because the airline’s website was being updated, adding: ‘easyJet reminds travellers that Ryanair serves obscure destinations at remote airfields where the whole village awaits to welcome their daily flight, while easyJet operate to centrally located airports across Europe.'
We like easyJet's response. We can't help but picture Borat and his relatives waiting on carts for a Ryanair flight to arrive.
