£40 Stansted terminal extension ‘topped out’

The topping out ceremony of a £40 million extension to Stansted Airport's terminal building took place yesterday. The extension adds a further 5900 square metres of floor space to the international arrivals area. It is due to open for passengers at the end of June and will be completed by December 2008.
BAA Stansted's managing director, Stewart Wingate, said: ‘I am delighted we have today reached another major milestone in the growth of the airport. Our exciting plans will transform the terminal building and improve the levels of customer service we provide to the tens of thousands of passengers who pass through Stansted every day.'
