BAA say CAA Stansted pricing fails to recognise spending
13.03.09
BAA said today that the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) had failed to recognise a large element of its investment at its Stansted Airport in its ruling on price controls. The CAA had earlier confirmed that Stansted Airport will have to pay back up to £10 million if it delivers poor service and said that price control decisions were unchanged from its December proposals.
BAA said in a statement: ‘We are disappointed that a large element of the full cost of developing new capacity has been retrospectively disallowed. We note the CAA settlement. We recognise the cost pressures facing the entire industry today, and have agreed realistic capital spending plans with airlines over the coming five years. Looking to the long-term, the regulator should not discourage future important investment, which it accepts is necessary.'
