French strike sees Ryanair cancel 250 flights
12.10.10
Ryanair says it has been forced to cancel 250 flights to and from France today, as air traffic controllers (ATC) there stage another strike. Flights cancelled do not just include France, a large number of Spanish flights routed over France are also affected.
The French workers are protesting over plans to raise the retirement age from 60 to 62. Today’s action follows on from work stoppages during the past two weeks. So far in 2010, Ryanair has cancelled 1,650 flights and delayed more than 12,000 others as a direct result of Belgian, French and Spanish ATC strikes and work-to-rules.
The airline is calling on the European Commission to remove the ‘right to strike’ from ATC workers. Full details of the cancelled flights are on the Ryanair website.
