Etihad bomb scare passenger faces jail term
10.03.11
A man has been warned he faces a long jail term after admitting making a bomb hoax that triggered an Etihad plane heading to Heathrow from the Middle East to be diverted to Stansted Airport, escorted by two RAF jets. James Glen, 38, was told by a judge at Chelmsford Crown Court that he could expect a ‘substantial’ sentence.
At his trial, the court heard Mr Glen, originally from Ayr, had been living in Australia for 18 years and was returning to the UK to take up a job working on rally cars in Chard, Somerset. He was anxious about flying and had consumed alcohol. The judge adjourned sentencing until April 8 and remanded Mr Glen in custody.
