Gladiators join fundraising event at Stansted Hilton hotel

Stars of the hit television show Gladiators will be on hand to motivate people at a major charity event at the Stansted Hilton Hotel, which is inviting people to travel Around the World in a Day. All proceeds from the day will go to St Mary's Primary School in Stansted Mountfitchet.
The plan is to traverse the entire circumference of the planet - a total of 24,900 miles. The people taking part in one of two walking and running challenges at the hotel will collectively cover a distance equivalent to the circumference of Earth.
Barbara Matheson, the hotel's general manager, said: ‘It doesn't matter what age you are or your level of fitness - every bit of effort helps! To get involved all you have to do is register in advance and join us at the hotel on June 29 for a fantastic day of fun and fitness.’
Standing by to provide motivation will be five of television's fittest figures: a crack squad of elite Gladiators. Predator, Spartan, Enigma, Ice and Tempest will be taking part in a team challenge.
Predator, a.k.a. Du'aine Ladejo, whose athletic pedigree is evident in his previous Olympic medal-winning success, said he and his fellow Gladiators were excited to be taking part in the event.
He said: ‘It's great to be a part of Around the World in a Day. It's really important to support children who need our help around the country and when doing so also encourage people to get active - it's a perfect scenario.’
Participants can take part in one of two ways. The first, Miles4fun, is a family-oriented two-hour event inviting as many people as possible to complete a one-mile route. The second is the Team Challenge, a more rigorous event inviting people to complete as many miles as possible on cardiovascular equipment in the hotel lobby.
