Conservatives renew Stansted runway block pledge

Shadow Secretary of State for Transport Theresa Villiers has renewed her pledge to block plans for a second runway at Stansted Airport if the Conservatives win the next General Election, the Herts Observer reports. She repeated her promise, made earlier this year, when she met local party members on Thursday.
Ms Villiers was at the Three Horseshoes pub in Molehill Green to be briefed by campaign group Stop Stansted Expansion’s economics advisor Brian Ross. At the end of the meeting, she said she was: ‘More convinced than ever that a second Stansted runway was environmentally unacceptable and could not be justified on economic grounds.’
