Legal threat to Stansted flightpath plan
08.05.08
Plans to move flightpaths so they cross some of the most picturesque parts of Suffolk could be challenged in court, campaigners have warned.
Proposals to move Stansted Airport's stacking zone away from Sudbury have met with concern from 37 villages which are expected to be affected. Plans for other stacks affect dozens of other communities across Suffolk and the home counties.
Save Our Silence action group chief campaigner, Frances Bee, said: ‘We are looking into the possibility of legal action and we will be meeting with specialist solicitors. It is very early days and no decision has yet been made but we would like to know if we have grounds for some kind of challenge.'
The consultation on the proposals closes on May 22. More information can be obtained from the NATS website www.consultation.nats.co.uk.
