Ryanair passengers up 17% (based on ‘booked passengers’)
07.05.10
Ryanair said yesterday that it carried 6.2 million passengers in April, up 17% from the same period a year earlier. Its load factor, a measure of how full an airline's planes are, improved to 83% from 82%. In the year to the end of April it carried 67.4 million passengers with an average load factor of 82%.
However, the airline's figures are based on 'booked passengers', and 'includes up to 1.2 million passengers who were booked to fly between the 15th to 22nd of April but whose flights were cancelled due to the closure of much of European airspace following the volcano eruptions in Iceland.' Remove 1.2 million passengers from the figures and it would have carried 5 million, 6% down on last year.
