Ryanair passengers up 15%; load factor down 4%

Ryanair said today that it carried 4.72 million passengers in April, 15% more than a year earlier, thanks to its growing route network. However, on average its flights were not as full.
Europe's biggest budget airline said its load factor -- a measure of how well it is filling available seats -- was 79% in the month, down from 83% a year earlier. However, Ryanair said the load factor in April 2007 was boosted by Easter, which fell in March this year.
In the year to the end of April 2008 the airline carried 51.55m passengers, with an average load factor of 81%.
