Stansted runway inquiry postponed

The Government has postponed the start of the public inquiry into a second runway at Stansted Airport. The inquiry was to have started on April 15 but notice of a postponement - until mid-summer- was given by Communities and Local Government Secretary Hazel Blears.
In a letter to all interested parties, Ms Blears said she was putting the inquiry back due to the imminent publication of the Competition Commission's (CC) final report into BAA's ownership of airports. This is widely expected to call for BAA to sell the airport.
