Flights suspended at Southampton Airport

Flights were temporarily suspended at Southampton Airport yesterday, after a Flybe plane which was bound for France developed techical problems. The Flybe flight BE1821 to La Rochelle experienced technical difficulties while poisitioning on the runway.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service were alerted at 11:33 and four engines - three from Eastleigh and one from St Mary's - converged on the airport. A fire brigade spokesman said it was a ground incident and the crews remained on standby.
A Southampton airport spokesman said: 'At 11.38 operations at the airport were temporarily suspended and the fire service have attended as a precaiutionary measure. Operations resumed shortly afterwards.'
