Southampton Airport and local school work together to foster enterprise

Southampton Airport and Bitterne Park School are launching a series of enterprise days for pupils, in celebration of National Enterprise Week (14 - 18 November). The 'Southampton Airport Enterprise Days' will give the school's 1300 pupils access to enterprise experience, helping to foster their entrepreneurial spirit.
With fifty-three percent of young people in the UK now wanting to run their own business, National Enterprise Week is about inspiring young people to develop enterprising qualities to survive in the job market of the future. The project will enable each year group to enjoy an Enterprise Day, and will especially benefit those Year 10 and 11 pupils who are studying Young Enterprise GCSEs.
Clare Cole, Communications Manager for Southampton Airport, says, 'We take great pride in our strategic partnership with Bitterne Park School, which is now two years old. Our aim with the 'Southampton Airport Enterprise Days' is to help local students develop the skills they need to prepare them for the world of work.'
The enterprise days are part of Southampton Airport's ongoing strategic partnership with Bitterne Park School, which has seen the airport deliver a variety of benefits including work experience placements, mentoring services, business master classes and careers evenings.
The 'Southampton Airport Enterprise Days' are being funded by the BAA Communities Trust, an independent trust that supports the communities local to all BAA airports.
