Southampton Airport launches noise consultation
20.06.09
Southampton Airport has launched a 16-week public consultation programme on its aircraft noise action plan for the next 5 years. The airport is required to publish a plan as part of UK environmental regulations, and is seeking views on its draft plan until October 2. The plan with then be reviewed before being submitted to the Secretary of State for Transport by November 30.
Stewart Smith, environment and surface access manager at the airport, said: ‘We aim to manage aircraft noise in a pro-active and sensitive way, as we understand that it can be a real concern. Our responsibility extends beyond the airport boundary, so we want to know what people think of our draft plans for the next 5 years before we finalise them for submission to the Government.’
