Strong six months at Southampton Airport

Passenger numbers at Southampton Airport for the first six months of 2007 were up 3.1% on a year earlier at 914,513. In June, 184,400 passengers travelled through the airport, and of these 37.5% of passengers were travelling on business journeys, whilst a further 38% of passengers were visiting friends and relatives.
July has also seen the start of a new airline from the airport. Blue Islands began operating twice-daily services to Guernsey and Flybe also now fly on the route. The launch of services by Blue Islands takes the total number of airlines and tour operators at Southampton Airport to 14, serving 46 destinations in the UK, Europe and the Channel Islands.
