A man has been jailed after cocaine worth more than £200,000 was found in a false compartment in a suitcase on a flight to Southampton Airport. Roland Castillo, 59, brought the drugs in on a Flybe flight from Paris on September 17, having started his journey in Cameroon
Mr Castillo, a Dutch national, appeared in court today where details of his previous convictions were revealed. He admitted smuggling 1.5 kilograms of the Class A drug with a 100 percent purity and was jailed for seven and a half hears.
Southampton Crown Court heard that Mr Castillo – who lives in Holland – had a previous conviction for attempted murder and had been given 10 years by a court in Venezuela for smuggling cocaine into the South American country.
