Passengers numbers Southampton airport grew by 29.9% in August, to an average of 6,370.
The airport's managing director David Cumming said: 'We continue to operate more flights and serve more destinations than ever before. We are pleased to announce a new route to Berne this winter with Flybe too.'
'Southampton airport is continually investing in its future and the growth in passenger numbers is testament to the dedication of all 1200 staff who work here.' The airport is now contributing £86 million to the local economy, according to research by Southampton University, Cumming said.
