Southampton Airport win volunteering award
06.08.09
Staff at Southampton Airport have been rewarded for their volunteering work, after being named the 'Best Volunteering Team' at the BAA I-Volunteer Awards. It has 22 employees enter the awards earlier this year. They received donations to the charity of their choice from the BAA Communities Trust. Each successful entry received a £200 donation, short listed entries £500, and winners £5,000.
The award was given for the airport's initiatives developed in association with Eastleigh College, which included activities such as specialist fire training for cabin crew students, the donation of two Land Rovers for use in Automotive Studies, and the donation of a greenhouse facility for students with learning difficulties.
